The objective of this project was to embody the style of a world-renowned graphic designer through a series of nine 3 by 3 inch double-sided tiles. The design is supposed to work together in any arrangement or composition, no matter which side is facing up.

I was assigned the designer David Carson. Everything about his work and his process goes against the rules of design & typography.

Something he has always said is “You have to utilize who you are in your work,” and I try to always keep this in my mind while designing.

His experimental grunge style was popular in the late 90’s and early 2000’s in surf, skate, and snowboard culture.
